The Pearl retains all the performance of the legendary Chestnut Pal, with a shallow-arch hull tuned for stability and tracking. Light rocker keeps it nimble enough for moving water while staying efficient on the flats.

All-Aramid layup, vacuum-bagged to 37 pounds
StarLite is Northstar's all-Aramid lamination, built with a full wet-bag vacuum process that minimizes resin for the lightest weight available. A foam core, ribs, and internal reinforcements create a stiff, efficient hull.

Low-volume tandem or high-volume solo

Bronze-anodized aluminum trim and ash seats
The StarLite ships with bronze-anodized aluminum gunwales, an ash portage yoke, and laminated ash web seats. Walnut and carbon E6 trim upgrades are available for paddlers who want to go lighter or dressier.

The Northstar Pearl 15'9" StarLite is an updated classic built on the legendary Chestnut Pal — a proven general-purpose canoe for flat and moving water for over half a century. Northstar retained all the performance characteristics of the Pal while eliminating the traditional recurved stems to reduce weight. Paddlers seek out the Pearl as a low-volume tandem for day paddles and short overnights, or — paddled backwards from the bow seat — as a high-volume solo for larger loads or bigger paddlers.
Built in Northstar's StarLite layup — all Aramid construction with a proprietary yellow and black moiré pattern. The full wet bag process minimizes resin for the lightest weight canoe available, while foam core, ribs, and internal reinforcements create a stiff, efficient hull. Exterior resin coated for maximum weight savings. The choice of flatwater paddlers everywhere.
