The Pearl updates the legendary Chestnut Pal, retaining its proven all-around manners on flat and moving water while shedding weight by eliminating the traditional recurved stems. A shallow-arch hull with modest 2" bow and stern rocker keeps it efficient on the flats yet responsive when the water picks up.

Carbon-Innegra co-weave built to last
The BlackLite layup co-weaves carbon fiber and Innegra with Aramid reinforcements, marrying the stiffness of carbon, the impact resistance of Innegra, and the tensile strength of Aramid. Full wet vacuum-bag construction with internal foam core and ribs delivers a stiff, efficient hull at just 39 lbs.

The Northstar Pearl 15'9" BlackLite is an updated classic built on the legendary Chestnut Pal — a proven general-purpose canoe for flat and moving water for over half a century. Northstar retained all the performance characteristics of the Pal while eliminating the traditional recurved stems to reduce weight. Paddlers seek out the Pearl as a low-volume tandem for day paddles and short overnights, or — paddled backwards from the bow seat — as a high-volume solo for larger loads or bigger paddlers.
The BlackLite layup features a carbon and Innegra co-woven outer with Aramid reinforcements, combining the stiffness of carbon fiber, the impact resistance of Innegra, and the excellent tensile strength of Aramid. Built using a full wet vacuum bag process for an artful balance of strength and weight — ideal for those who want greater durability than StarLite while still valuing a lightweight canoe.
