Shout Out to The Ladies in Outdoor Recreation Getting it Done
Check out all the quality content coming from our community of paddlers, both whitewater kayaking and kayak fishing. Tune in, read up and get psyched. This is the Friday's Finds, where we seek to highlight some of the paddlers who call Virginia home. PaddleVa is about all of us. While some of the stuff shared in these posts will come from outside our waters, Virginia will always be the primary focus.
Today, I kept stumbling across the ladies getting it done. So I rolled with it.
First Up:
It started with Astral posting this great video of female kayaker Maranda Stopol on their Facebook page. Check out Maranda getting after it.
.
Second Up:
I met BIC Sup Ambassador Casi Rynkowski a couple years back and loved her psyche, My wife has always spoken very highly of Anna Levesque, Dagger / BIC / Werner Ambassador, and I met BIC Sup angler Bri Andrassy at ICAST this year and was impressed with her paddleboard set-up and her thirst for fun. I remember when the ladies messaged me about fishing spots around the Crystal Coast, to hit while they were filming. This is a cool idea and video. Plus it makes me psyched to get down to the NC coast soon!
.
Third Up:
While watching the first video on YouTube, I saw a thumbnail for this next vid. I shed a little happy tear while watching it. This is what I want with my girls (I have two daughters). This is perfect.
.
Fourth Up:
Haleigh Kilby is a local Virginia kayak angler who's been getting after it recently. She earned a spot on the Wildereness Systems team on top of her spot on the Big South Championship softball team for the Longwood U. Lancers. Check her out!
.
Fifth Up:
I've been following Outdoor Afro for awhile now, with a few donations thrown in. Why? Because I love the mission. Her is a radio piece with CEO Rue Mapp on Connecting Black Communities to Nature. Give it a listen or read the interview at the link http://wcqs.org/post/connecting-black-communities-nature
