Richmond Fishing Expo – Kayak Fishing Style
by Brian Vincent
Last year I suggested that the Appomattox River Company Booth was the best booth at the Richmond Fishing Expo. And while I was joking a bit, I also honestly felt that way, so I wasn't really joking. ;) I wasn't the only one who had that thought either. This year looks just as good!
The Richmond Fishing Expo is upon us. It runs today, the 17th, through to Sunday the 19th. Saturday is naturally the busiest day, and will be the day that our booth is at full capacity with Pro Staffers, etc. So, depending on your objective, plan accordingly. You can find us in the back left, straight in from the front door. Check out the map:
Deals, Deals, Deals!!! We will have a ton of Special Show Deals! So come on by the booth to check those out.
But that is not all. Our booth will also be stocked with the latest and greatest from the kayak fishing industry and some great Virginia Pro Staff Fisherman will be on hand to answer all your questions about those boats.
So, the details. Here is what you can expect to see.
The Native Watercraft Slayer Propel 13 Kayak with Mark Lozier, a Native Watercraft Endorsed Guide with Werner Paddles and Astral. Mark also owns 1st Landing Kayak Fishing Services in VA Beach. Mark is a great resource in the community, a seasoned statesman, if you will. He always has his finger on the pulse of the Tidewater fishing scene through his work as the Asst. Manager of Ocean's East 2 Bait and Tackle Shop, Virginia's largest tackle shop.
And ladies and dudes, Mark's wife, Kris, will be with him. She is an accomplished angler carrying the Native Watercraft, Werner Paddle and Astral banner as well. If you want the inside scoop from a woman in the game, making it happen, talk with Kris. She's always psyched to share the love.
Jim Hager, of FeelFree Kayaks, will be on hand with their newest kayak, the Lure 11.5. This boat has been getting a lot of attention lately. It is not yet available, though we'll have it in stock very soon, but you can get an exclusive look at it in our booth. And Jim can tell you everything that makes this kayak truly unique.
Aaron Dryden, Wilderness Systems Fishing Team, will have the Wilderness Systems Ride 115X Kayak in the booth. This offering from Wildy hit big this year when it made it's debut. Packed with great angling features, including an electronics ready, removable console, this kayak is ready to rock. Aaron is a very accomplished kayak angler, known for his extensive knowledge of the James River fishery and skill at catching Smallies.
Chuck Wrenn, Hobie Kayak Fishing Team, will be in the booth giving encyclopedic beta on the Hobie Pro Angler 14 kayak. The Pro Angler is a show piece in and of itself. This is one exceptional fishing machine and Chuck is just the guy to give you the full run down on it's features. Seriously, dude is like the Google of kayak angling, his brain is packed with information and he loves working with folks who are new to the sport.
Joe Wapple, representing KC Kayaks, will be in the booth, showcasing the KC Kayak K12 Kayak in RealTree Camo. This is one super stable, awesome looking hunting and fishing platform. KC Kayaks are out of Louisiana and are fairly new to the kayak fishing world. They currently are flying under the radar, but not for long! Be one of the first amongst your friends to discover this hot company and their latest and greatest RealTree kayak.
Heroes On the Water Central Chapter will be in our booth as well. If you are unfamiliar with this exceptional organization, make sure you check them out. Heroes On the Water helps wounded warriors relax, rehabilitate, and reintegrate through kayak fishing and the outdoors.
We will also have some great kayak fishing accessories in our booth from Yak Attack, and PowerTeam Lures, both great Central Virginia companies.
Plus the New Jackson Kayak Big Rig, Cruise 10 Kayak and the Cuda 12 Kayak!
Also see the New Old Town Predator MX Kayak! also the classic Trident 13.
It looks like once again, we should have the best booth at the Richmond Fishing Expo! ;)
I suspect the weekend will bring a good portion of our great Virginia kayak fishing community through the expo and our booth. We hope you drop by and say hello. See ya there!
