Last Day of ICAST, Re-Cap Kayak Fishing
So what else was exciting at ICAST? I've already posted 2 separate write-ups about the show, Day 1 and Day 2. Now that OR is coming to a close, I should probably post the last bit of stuff I have from ICAST. :) This re-cap from the last day includes some fishing kayaks and gear that I stumbled across at the show. Once again, as these products get closer to coming out, we'll delve into them a little deeper. So stay tuned. In the meantime, here's some eye candy.
The Ocean Kayak Trident series is getting a well deserved make over. Finally a seat that elevates you off the deck, just slightly, and gives more support! There is also a handy magnet, hatch component that will aid in keeping terminal tackle and lures at hand.
.
Wilderness Systems has come out with the ATAK 120, a shorter more maneuverable version of the popular ATAK 140. They pushed the bow up to take on waves or choppy water a little better. The rest of the design is pretty similar to the 140, with the major difference coming in the stern of the kayak. The 120 has a squared out stern to accommodate the Micro Power Pole. The tankwell is a traditional style, with abundant space for a crate, etc.
.
.
Pelican International beefed up the Catch 120 and debuted the Catch NXT 120, which adds anti-slip carpet, a lock hatch in the stern and a new venom color scheme.
.
BIC Sup is coming out with a new 120 Cross board that will be perfect for rigging up to go fishing. We posted a live video on our Facebook page during the show about this board. It looks good.
.
NRS also debuted a couple new inflatable boards for fishing, as well as some new footwear. Splashing some style on'em.
.
This guy was looming over the whole set-up. That larger than life kayak angler is Robert Field. If you don't know, go find out. As you can see he's kinda a big deal. :)
.
Ran into the crew from YakGear in a nearby booth and they had the very cool JuiceBox for powering electronics, Â and baby bubbles plugged into their soft side bait tank.
.
I also popped in to look at Savage Gear's Best In Show hard lure, the S Duck.
.
The Malone booth featured a brand new, kayak fishing specific trailer and some great new kayak carts for sand and hard surface.
.
The crew at Astral had a ton of new footwear, plus newly re-designed Otter PFD for kids and redesigned Sea Wolf PFD. Love the new colors and the new LE Greenjacket!
.
Yak Attack debuted their new Command Stand bar. Perfect for mounting everything you need for standing and fishing and ready to mount anywhere tracks can be found.. The home town boys still innovating.
.
During ICAST I'll often wander over to the IFTD section aka Fly Fishing heaven and check out the gear. One of my favorite stops is the  Vedavoo booth. Scott Hunter has been producing high quality fly fishing packs, slings, etc her in the USA and I love the style and function of his stuff. Check him out online.

So that is some of what I saw at ICAST. I'll post more pictures on our Facebook page. ICAST remains one of my favorite shows. This was the first year where I tried to Live Video from the event and I learned a lot about what didn't and did work. Next year I plan to improve our coverage and try to answer more questions for y'all out there. Thanks for checking it out.
See ya on the water!
