Friday’s Five Finds: Ben Moore, Isaac Hull, Bob Bernotsky, Gordon Dalton, YakAttack, Rob Choi, Mark Lozier
Every week I will scour the inter-webs for cool videos, produced by people using the awesome products we sell. Of course, preference will go to our local folks, but I'll still look outside VA. Since we stock a dizzying array of different vendors, we have a wide selection to choose from, featuring a lot of talented folks. It ought to be fun and I hope you enjoy seeing sweet paddle-sports items in action. Welcome to Friday's Five Finds!
The first video this week:
This video features one of our favorite local RVA, SUP pros, Ben Moore. Ben is a BIC SUP and Werner Paddles team guy, and he's always getting after it on the James River and anywhere he can drop his board on some waves. Also in this clip you'll meet Isaac Hull, a young whitewater shredder, who recently dropped onto our radar. This kid has got some skills! Watch Ben and Isaac as the carve up the wave at Z-Dam.
Products Featured in this video:
BIC SUP 11'4"Dura Tec Board- Extremely durable and rugged, the 11'4" is a great all around board ready for adventure.
Werner Stinger Paddle - A great blade for whitewater and river running, it's shape helps to avoid banging it on rocks while still maintaining great power.
Jackson Kayak Shooting Star - A great whitewater boat for the young shredder. We have 2 in our used boat section. Check them out.
AT Paddles - Some of the most cutting edge whitewater paddle designs.

The second video this week:
Bob Bernotsky, of PowerTeam Lures, is a good friend and valuable fishing resource to us here at ARC. Him and his wife, Katie, are great ambassadors to the sport of kayak fishing and always looking to help folks out. The good karma pays back in full when Bob hits the James River. Here he his snatching a VA Citation smallie out of the river on the Upper James.
Products featured in this video:
Wilderness Systems Ride 115 Kayak: The Ride 115 is an exceptionally performer in many different bodies of water. It's super stable, moves well and can handle anything you throw at it. I know Bob is a big fan.
Werner Tybee Bent Paddle- It's a pretty light, mid-size paddle that has the ergonomically shaped shaft, designed to elevate fatigue.
The third video this week:
I came across this video at some point in the week and got a big smile. It's an old school gem featuring a long time supporter and coveted member of the PaddleVa family, Gordon Dalton, punching it on the Maury River. I had to include it. Gordon is a Team Pyranha paddler and has been crushing it for a long time. You can find him still dropping steep creeks in Nelson County, VA in-between teaching and hunting.
Pyranha Kayaks- Pyranha has been making great whitewater boats for a long time. We know a lot of great paddlers that sit in their kayaks. Gordon and our friend Shannon Carroll are two of our favorite. Check out this old school vid.
The fourth video this week:
A new YakAttack promo hit the internet this week. YakAttack is a neighboring business here in Central Va, and they design cutting edge kayak fishing accessories. We have 50+ of their products in our shops and are expanding daily. Check out the video and check out the goods.
Featured in this video:
Yak Attack - Rigging the Dream.
The fifth video this week is actually a two-fer:
More Kayak Kevin Podcasts. The first vid-cast features guest Rob Choi with Lee Williams and Kayak Kevin, all accomplished, local VA anglers. Rob lets fly with some Shad fishing tips that had me scrambling for a pen. Good info for the upcoming Shad Shootout in RVA, which you should sign up for now.
The second vid-cast features guest Mark Lozier with Lee and Kevin. Mark talks about AWFC and the subject of trout closures come up. A great opportunity to hear skilled local anglers talk about the craft and the waters we fish.
