Virginia Winter Kayak Fishing and RVA's Whitewater Hero Returns
The Virginia kayak fishing and whitewater kayaking content has been hot. The guys and gals down on the coast have been getting after it and RVA's whitewater kayaking crew have been busy. Here's the latest and greatest from our PaddleVa community here in the old Commonwealth.
First Up:
William Ragulsky, Hurricane Kayaks/ Werner Paddles/ Astral/ YakAttack Pro, lays down the 411 on late season trout fishing in the salt. There is a ton of good info in this piece. Click the link below the photo to get the full report.

The King of The James tri went down in downtown RVA recently. We re-posted a blog report about it and now there is a sweet video about this new event. This year marked the inaugural crowning of the King and it appears to have been a great success. Don't miss this next year and check out the video.

Jay Brooks, Wilderness Systems/Adventure Technology Pro, and he recently started paddling the new Wilderness Systems Thresher 140. To get his report on this slick new boat click the link below the photo.

Cooper Sallade, Dagger Kayaks Pro, is a favored whitewater paddler of the RVA community. He suffered a tragic set back when his leg, tibia and fibula, were fractured and his tibial plateau was broken in ten places. Cooper wasn't sure he would paddle again, much less race the Green. Here is a great short video about his return. Don't call it a comeback, he's been here for years.

Kayak Kevin posted a blog piece about some winter togging with the Virginia, Ocean Kayak crew. These guys are always getting after it. Click the link below the photo for the full report. And buy Kayak Kevin's DVDs. They are all awesome, including his latest on cold water species.

I've been following the Lusk brothers out of the Outer Banks for a while now. They both pedal Hobie Kayak Outback boats. Not only do they have a Virginia connection, but they produce some cool videos and awesome photography. This is Matt Lusk's GoPro 2014 Highlight video and it has some great footage in it. Get psyched!

Peelin' Drag Extreme Fishing consists of RVA's own Grant Alvis, pushing a Hobie Kayaks Pro Angler, and Josh Dolin, paddling a Jackson Kayak Big Tuna. These guys get after it. They put out a very informative podcast where they cover various styles of fishing. Here is the Musky discussion. Enjoy and get your learn on.
