Shipping on Canoes and Kayaks

In Virginia, we offer white-glove delivery directly to your door for $129. This service excludes the Eastern Shore and locations west of I-77.

We also ship canoes and kayaks east of the Mississippi River and to Texas for $379. If carrier costs are significantly higher than expected, we will contact you before processing your order.

Boats shipped outside Virginia are sent by LTL freight carrier. Our trained staff carefully wrap each kayak in thick cardboard and plastic sheeting, and apply labels — including "Fragile," "Top Load Only," "Inspect Before Signing," and "No Forklift" — to help protect the shipment in transit.

Once your order ships, you will receive an email confirmation with your UPS or USPS tracking number.

Freight Damage — Canoes and Kayaks

All canoe and kayak sales are FOB Farmville, VA. The customer assumes responsibility for the shipment once it leaves our loading dock. Signing the delivery receipt releases the freight carrier from liability for damage.

Do not sign the delivery receipt until you have inspected your kayak or canoe. If the driver cannot wait while you inspect the shipment, refuse the delivery.

If the damage is cosmetic or repairable (such as dents or scratches), Appomattox River Company will provide a repair kit. If you choose to replace a kayak with minor cosmetic damage, a 20% restocking fee will apply. Major damage is defined as damage that compromises the hull and would void the warranty.

If you discover damage after delivery, photograph it and contact us right away.

Pick Up a Canoe or Kayak

When placing an online order, you may choose to pick up your canoe or kayak at our Farmville location during normal business hours.
