RVA Fishing Expo: An ARC Kayak Fishing Showcase

The Richmond Fishing Expo was scheduled to rock the Meadow Event Park in Doswell, Va from Jan. 17th - Jan. 19th. The due date for my second daughter's arrival was on the 15th. I wondered if I'd make the Expo. I had gotten lucky and my wife had not gone into labor before the Kayak Anglers Rendezvous, but I was sure she would before the Fishing show. Coming into January, we knew the likelihood of me attending both events was slim.

Richmond Fishing Expo – Kayak Fishing Style

Last year I suggested that the Appomattox River Company Booth was the best booth at the Richmond Fishing Expo. And while I was joking a bit, I also honestly felt that way, so I wasn't really joking. ;) I wasn't the only one who had that thought either. This year looks just as good!

2nd Annual Kayak Anglers Rendezvous

A little over a year ago, I attended the first annual Kayak Anglers Rendezvous at ARC-Hampton. I bought a fishing license the next day, something I hadn't done in a long time. The event, and the folks who attended, were awesome and made a big impression on me.

A Summer Vaca … in December

A few days after our December festivities, the Detrick family headed south (from VA) to North Myrtle Beach, SC for some much-needed relaxation and outdoor fun. Our friends, the Dudley family, joined us. You may ask, "Why go to the beach in the middle of winter?" My family and I have been heading to NMB for years, and we love the area during any season. The "off-season" is one of our favorite times to go when crowds are at a minimum and restrictions on beach kayaking have been lifted.
