Specialty retailers know. It's our strength. In an arena increasingly driven by digital presence, it's the small brick and mortar shops that have that advantage. Paddlers, and prospective paddlers, are often in search of that perfect kayak, canoe, or stand up paddleboard to fit their needs.  But more and more shoppers are turning to big box stores or online giants like Amazon to shop.

I want to give you a thought to ponder. They can't help you figure out what's best for you, for your family, or for the area and bodies of water that you want to paddle. They can't help you figure out the best way to transport it, show you how to load it and tie it down. Only specialty shops can do that.

As a society we are moving away from face to face interactions and increasingly searching out ways to avoid each other. And it's only perpetuating the divide and loneliness that we all feel. Specialty retailers can help. It's literally what we do. We help you because we are here for you.

When you go on Amazon and research items, you may find slightly cheaper pricing, but you're missing out on a chance for a relationship. With specialty retail you get a face instead of a faceless corporation. When something goes wrong with your kayak, who will you call?  At a specialty retailer you will find years upon years of passion and experience at the ready to serve you. We paddle. We pedal. We fish. We charge whitewater. We rig kayaks. We repair canoes. We float the river and the lakes you're used to. We co-op TLC lyrics.

Whether it's in the store, via email, on the phone, or social media messaging, you can always get one of us to answer your questions. It's part of that service side of customer service. It's included in the price of your product. You may find it cheaper on Amazon, or find a cheaper kayak next to the toy section in a big box store, but with a specialty retailer you get a lifetime of customer service. You get a face, a person, a story. And it's in our stories, the telling and the listening, that we bond together despite our differences. So if you want to make the world a better place; Shop small. Shop specialty retail.

Also, fun side note: If you can buy a kayak and toilet paper from the same store, you're probably not going to get expert paddling advice.

But you will at a specialty retailer. Plus, we like to have fun.
