Re-Cap EORA in Greenville, SC - Outdoor Industry
I ventured down to Greenville, SC for the Outdoor Industry's EORA show this past week. It was a good opportunity to see some stuff I didn't see at ICAST. There is definitely some cool stuff coming out soon in the paddle sports world.
Native Watercraft has expanded their line of accessories, incl. a cool tackle storage pouch for the back of the seat, a hawg trough holster, and some organizational pouches.
.
The boys from Boonedox have been working hard on new products. They debuted the Outfitter, a top bed extender, for racking kayaks above your truck bed. It's a great system that allows you to still close your tailgate and carry your kayak without having to cart top it. They also designed a killer kayak trailer with gear boxes on both sides for all your fishing gear.
.
The Confluence Outdoor booth was stocked with goodness. The biggest draw, the Wilderness SystemsTarpon 130X, was sitting center stage. This is the classic Tarpon with a snazzy makeover. The Tarpon 130X has the flex pod that accepts the Torqueedo motor and a Pro Max seat that move fore and aft. The seat does not move up and down, but does sit off the deck, camp chair style. This thing is going to turn heads.
.
Boardworks has built a cooler. The price point is going to be very friendly.
.
Perception Kayaks will be releasing the Pescador Pro 100 and 120 in the coming months and they look real good. Wilderness Systems also are set with the new Pungo UltraLite in Realtree and the upcoming Tarpon 135 Tandem. Lots of good stuff coming down the road. That red Pescador 120 Pro looked super sharp.
.
Feelfree Kayaks is continuing with their color coordination in accessories. They also have a cooler on the horizon.
.
.
Accent Paddles have a new high quality stick coming out called the Trophy Angler, and it looks very sharp. I was digging the matte black finish and the cool graphic.
.
.
Jackson Kayak has a bunch of new kayaks coming and they all have that usual JK style. The Kraken 13.5 looks pretty darn slick. This will be a winner.
.
Jackson also has an Ultralite Kilroy, a tandem Kilroy and some Pro Model versions of their popular kayaks. For instance, the Big Rig Pro. The Pro Model kayaks will come stacked with everything you need to get on the water; fishfinder, power pole, Nocqua power source, etc.
.
.
.
The other new kid on the block for JK is the Skipper, an angling kayak for youth. Jackson is always thinking about the youth, growing the next generation.
.
I stopped by the Pyranha Kayaks booth and hung with the fellas. They had slapped a flush mount into the Fusion SOT cross kayak and it looked like whitewater fun. Here's a pic of the little river monster.
.
The Bic SUP booth had a Yak Attack adorned Cross SUP on display up front. This thing looked pretty slick for a stand-up fishing platform. Yak Attack is coming out with a whole line-up of products designed to connect to the lash-in points on SUPs. Check out the Orion Cooler as a seat/ sight casting perch.
.
.
Sylvan Sport designs super cool trailers in NC. They have the camper model and the GOEasy which is a very functional kayak hauler. I stopped in and chatted with Earl Hunter, their VP of Sales, who also played football at Appalachian State, one of the many colleges I attended.
.
.
.
.
Yakima Racks is coming out with a whole new car rack system that promises to be a winner. They're out to make installation and adjustments super fast and easy.
.
Then it was over to see our long-time friend and Rep. Cliff Earle, who walked me through some cool stuff. Check out these sexy wood canoe blades from Bending Branches. Just beautiful! Be on the lookout for some new sticks, the Java and Sunburst, and also some redesigns on a couple of classics like the Expedition.
.
Aqua-Bound Paddles have released a slick looking lady's SUP paddle that caught my eye as well.
.
Stohlquist got my attention with price point drysuit that would be perfect for kayak anglers. It features a Neo Dry gasket that felt very comfortable.
.
Eddyline Kayaks were next. They look just as good on the water as under the lights. These are sharp. The middle kayak, the Rio, is a new sit inside offering that we've already been selling well. The Caribbean, on the bottom, is a crowd favorite around here for it's glide in the water and lightweight. And lastly, on the top. the C135 Stratofisher is the newest kayak for Eddyline and I wrote glowingly of it after ICAST. It's a baller boat.
.
I peeked in again with the guys from Astral Designs to take another look at the Astral Ronny Fisher in Realtree Camo Max-5. This is going to be a great kayak hunting PFD.
.
Lastly I stopped by The North Face. Why? Because this guy was there.
.
One thing that never changes about the outdoor industry, it's full of good friends. Here's to padding and fishing with more of you in the future.
