Kayaks and COVID-19 Guidelines For PaddleVa
These are interesting times for us all. COVID-19 is impacting every segment of our lives. We won't hit ya with all the recommendations again because we are sure you've seen them. And if you have not, go to the CDC site or the VDH site. We do want to fill you in on the precautionary steps we are taking.
We have been busy this week unloading truckloads of product. In an attempt to stock up and keep our crew busy we asap'ed some orders. There are some new and exciting things that have arrived and we'll highlight them in a later message.
Knowing that kayaks, canoes, etc are excellent social distancing tools and awesome recreational toys, we realize folks will be looking to continue shopping for them as they seek out ways to recreate outside. We also are cognizant of not using this as a cheap ploy to "sell" in these stressful times. But we are here. We are a small business. So below you can read our game-plan. These guidelines are subject to change day to day.
Appomattox River Co. in Farmville and Hampton are currently still open for business. Our Ashland store is scheduled to close doors on March 27th until further notice. In the meantime, we will offer home delivery into the Richmond market for free for the next month. The delivery runs will happen once a week and will be done by one of our staff.
In store guidelines:
We are utilizing hand sanitizer and aggressive disinfectant cleaning routines in our office and checkout areas.
Our website has a Pick Up In Store option on the second page of Checkout. You are invited to utilize this Click and Collect feature for the Farmville and Hampton store. In Farmville, your kayak, etc will be ready for Pick Up same day, Tues-Sat. You can call us in advance to let us know your arrival time and we can have your product ready for pick up. If you order a kayak, canoe, etc. We can bring the paddlecraft to your car and tie it on ourselves, eliminating any need to get out of the car should you wish to stay away from in person interaction.
Naturally, we are fortunate in that we have a robust e-commerce component to our business. Our website is an excellent frictionless tool for shopping and we ship all across the lower 48 states. We will continue to ship out your orders via freight lines, UPS and USPS.

In Hampton, Click and Collect will be available on a weekly basis. We run our Hampton orders once a week to that store from Farmville. They are usually there by Friday afternoon, in time for the weekend. You will be able to pick up orders placed Sun-Thurs by Friday afternoon in Hampton.
Shopping in Farmville : We have multiple buildings and outside areas on our shopping grounds here. Our staff stays separated in different locations throughout the day. When you come in to shop, we will continue to assign a sales associate to you and your party. We will then lead you through the open air warehouses to shop product. There may be wait times as we endeavor to keep numbers of patrons down below 10 in any given building / area of the shop. Please be patient with us. This is new ground for us too. Our intention is to keep our staff and our patrons as safe as we can while also doing our job.
Shopping in Hampton:
We will endeavor to keep numbers down here as well. You may be asked to wait in your car for a short spell if shopping numbers exceed the 10 people mark inc. employees. This is for your safety and ours.
We also have Gift Cards available and you can call 800-442-4837, 9-5, Tues-Sat to order one. We will have them available online before the week is out.
