ICAST is coming and PaddleVa is going
The ICAST trade show hype is in full swing, and I love it. I know there are some kayak fishing folks out there who get a little jaded about the orgy of media that happens surrounding this event, and I hear ya, but you also have to remember what that means. The recreational fishing industry has a $115 billion impact on our country's economy and adds close to 1 million jobs. So if the week of ICAST, and all the hype, does anything to raise awareness of that impact, then I'm all for it. Often times I hear folks lament the lack of outdoor enthusiasm from the gaming and tv generation. Well, shows like ICAST provide a perfect opportunity to showcase how cool outdoor recreation can be and help to lure more kids outside. And what is the most accessible way to get cash strapped folks on the water? Kayak fishing. As you can probably tell, I have no reservations about the pageantry and circus of ICAST. It gives me the chance to meet up with friends, and industry partners and brainstorm ways to keep folks engaged in the industry and the outdoors. That is good not only for my job security but the job security of close to a million other folks. It also gives me the opportunity to highlight for our customers all the hot new stuff coming out and address any of the questions that may result. So it's a win - win.
That said, here are some of the big teasers that I've seen leading into ICAST. Take a look and let us know on our Facebook, or Instagram post about what you want to see, or what questions you want me to ask. Thanks!
