Friday’s Five Finds: Katie Bernotsky, Watersheds Films, Harriet Vincent, the Big Rig and Ben Moore
Every week I will scour the inter-webs for cool videos, produced by people using the awesome products we sell. Of course, preference will go to our local folks, but I'll still look outside VA. Since we stock a dizzying array of different vendors, we have a wide selection to choose from, featuring a lot of talented folks. It ought to be fun and I hope you enjoy seeing sweet paddle-sports items in action. Welcome to Friday's Five Finds!
The first video this week:
It's no secret we like Bob and Katie of PowerTeam Lures. They are good people and good ambassadors on the water. They PaddleVa with Wilderness Systems Fishing kayaks. Katie and Bob were out at Briery Creek Lake this past weekend, when Katie hooked into a monster, her PB bass at 8 lb 12 oz! This is an awesome video!
Products featured:
Wilderness Systems Ride 115 Fishing Kayak- We still have a few Red and Yellow 2013 Closeouts, and a full stock of 2014's. The Ride 115 is a very popular fishing kayak and for good reason. This is a fishing machine.
Bob and Katie will soon be paddling with Adventure Technology Exodus Fishstix Paddles and sporting new Wilderness Systems Ride 115X's and we look forward to more adventures with these two great anglers, but more importantly, great people.
The second video this week:
I came across this video awhile back and rediscovered it recently. This is a sick whitewater video from the guys at Watersheds Films. The Little Stoney carves 100o ft. in 3 miles and these guys were greeted to 15 inches of snow in 3 hours, but they came away with some great footage.
Products featured:
LiquidLogic Kayaks Stomper 80 Kayak - The Stomper has the speed, stability and rolling ability of the Remix Series with the bomber construction, safety and boofability of the Jefe Series.
Werner Paddles - Werner Paddles, a company dedicated to handcrafted paddles for over forty years. Werner Paddles believe Advanced Designs and Great Fit are the key ingredients to achieving Ultimate Paddle Performance
Aqua-Bound Paddles - Aqua-Bound has many paddles to choose from to find your perfect fit. Get your hands on an Aqua-Bound paddle and prepare to elevate your experience.
The third video this week:
I stumbled across this video of my wife while searching for something else. It was one of the first video attempts I made at ARC. My wife, Harriet, who was born into the PaddleVa family, is a pretty good whitewater boater. Here she is on the New River and the Gauley River, in West Virginia, a couple years back.
Products featured:
Wave Sport Kayaks - Harriet was paddling an older version of the Project X. Wave Sport Kayaks have been designing solid whitewater kayaks for quite a while now. Check them out.
Adventure Technology AT2 Flexi Whitewater Paddle- This paddle is perfect for those who seek the rare combination of high performance and reduced wear and tear on the body.
The fourth video this week:
Jackson Kayak recently released the Big Rig and this kayak is on fire. We've been rolling these things out the door and watching many satisfied customers leave our parking lot, ready for adventure. This video from JK hints at the level of stable, kayak fishing adventure that awaits them. Check it out and check out the Big Rig.
Products featured:
Jackson Kayak Big Rig: The Big Rig is a fast boat that can take paddlers over big bodies of water, maneuver small rivers and marshlands and has a low profile making it easy to handle in windy conditions.
and the fifth video this week:
I've showcased this video on our Facebook page before, it's pretty cool. Ben Moore has been a part of the PaddleVa family for awhile now and is a great ambassador to the RVA whitewater scene. He reps the James River with style and paddles for BIC SUP and Werner Paddles, engaging in what he affectionately refers to as battleboarding. Check it!
Products featured:
BIC SUP boards- BIC Sport Stand Up Paddle-Boards are suitable for paddlers of all skill levels. From the professional seeking high performance, low weight and consistency, to the beginner looking for stability, paddling ease and progression.
Werner Stinger Paddle - The Stinger was designed for river running and whitewater paddling. It is a durable fiberglass full-size blade. The blade tip is narrow to help avoid rocks and then flairs to give you more power in your paddling stroke.

Enjoy until next week.
