Demo Day Canceled and Store Operation Updates for May
***** Update : June is here and we have decided to stick with the below Guidelines for the month of June. We will continue operating under the By Appt, Curbside Pick Up , for orders placed over the phone or online. Thank you for continuing to be patient with us as we navigate the Phases of Virginia's opening. We are still in Phase I and have not seen detailed business instructions for Phase II and so we will remain in our current operational procedures.
Thank you,
ARC Family
Yes, we finally came to grips with the reality that Demo Day had to be canceled. We know. It's been a hard decision. Demo Day is one of our busiest and absolutely a day of full fun for everyone involved. But given the Phased re-opening plan put forth by the Governor it would be irresponsible of us to pack 1000 people on an island in close contact with each other. Phase II of re-opening calls for gatherings not to exceed 50 people and in our estimation that will likely fall in those first weeks of June. We look forward to the days of risk free hugs and camaraderie in the future.
In the meantime, be on the look out for micro demos as we've been in talks with some of our Reps about having smaller, brand specific demos in the future. We've also started brainstorming inventive digital ways to provide demo like information via video, etc. Lastly, starting in June we will begin doing our Demo by Appt operation again. The cost is $45 a kayak to demo with the cost going towards the cost of a purchase within 30 days of Demo.
Store Operating Procedures for May:
At this time and for the rest of May we will continue operating on our Curbside Pick Up by Appt guidelines for all orders placed Online or over the phone.
To Recap:
We are still shipping across the lower 48 states by freight. Our Ashland store is now Closed for the time being. We have increased our personal delivery radius in Virginia for our custom kayak delivery service to account for that closure. One of our drivers will deliver your kayak, calling in the days after your order has been placed to schedule. The driver will unload the kayak. You are encouraged to be there but it is not necessary. The driver will maintain safe 6 ft distance, set your kayak up and explain the features.
You can also shop online for 'In Store PickUp in Farmville' and we can schedule your pickup so that you do not have to get out of the car. There is an In Store Pick Up option in the Shipping section of our Checkout Cart. Please wait for us to call and set up an Appt for you to Pick Up (or be proactive and call us) before just showing up. That way we can have your order ready and be efficient.
When arriving for you curbside pick up: Call from your car into the office 800-442-4837 and tell us your name and order. If you desire to get out of your car PLEASE wear a mask. We will be wearing masks to protect you, please do us the same courtesy.
Our staff will load the kayak. If you have your own straps to tie it down that can be communicated before pickup and when our staff distances themselves you can get out and tie on your kayak. We must maintain 6 ft distance during this loading.
You can still call us #800-442-4837, 9-5, Tues-Sat, to discuss kayaks, canoes, SUPs, paddles, PFDs, etc. We can walk you through much of our inventory and process sales that way as well. Phone orders can be shipped or scheduled for Pick Up In Store by Appt.
Our Hampton store is open for kayak pickups as well. You can shop online and chose In Store PickUp for Hampton. Those kayaks will be there on Friday of every week as we run a truck from Farmville to Hampton once a week. You can also call the Hampton store to find out what they have in stock. You can purchase over the phone and schedule a pick up time. When arriving for you curbside pick up: Call from your car into the office 757-890-0500 and tell us your name and order.
The important news here:
We are no longer open for In Store Shopping at least through May. This will most likely change in June. We look forward to the days when we can get back to our normal routine of walking scores of folks through our warehouses, talking about the rivers and lakes that we love. But for now we will have to settle for phone calls, emails, and social messaging and the curbside pick up routine mentioned above.. We love all y'all. Thank you for understanding.
