Multiple laminate of hard and soft woods with a nicely shaped, contoured blade. Blade has 2oz fiberglass and resin coating,
and shaft is epoxy resin coated.
Oval shaft and slightly thicker in the ferrule area (where they break apart) for added strength.
Ferrule is stainless steel, made by the Sawyer Canoe Company.
We check each paddle to be sure the ferrule works reasonably well. Paddles can be adjusted to work right or left handed control, or straight bladed (no feather angle) great for kids and beginners.
Tip neoprene coated, over 2oz fiberglass, with epoxy resin final coat.
They are in good shape, however they are sold as is.
Paddling with a wood paddle is a joy. The natural bouyancy and warmth is a pleasure for your hands and a relief to your arms. The oval shaft is comfortable in your grip and the paddles are fairly lighweight. These are good paddles but not the best you can get.
These paddles will make an excellent paddle for someone starting out, or as a great spare paddle. The break apart design will stow easily in your boat so you won't be caught up the creek or out in the ocean without a paddle.
The ferrules are made by the Sawyer Canoe Company and the paddles manufactured in Czechoslovakia. They were made about 6-8 years ago and imported in a one-time venture. They have been warehoused in boxes and wrapped in plastic. They are not warped, bent or cracked. The blades are protected with a 2oz fiberglass cloth with resin coating and the shafts are resin coated too. The tip is neoprene dipped and coated with epoxy resin. For sea and flatwater kayaking they should last a long time.
We sell these paddles at the rock-bottom price of $89.95. Shipping on these is an additional $10.00.
